Valentino Resort & Spa: Great Group Weekend Getaway (San Jose Batangas)

Summer is the best time to go out of town.  I'm so lucky that my mentors brought me along to Valentino Resort & Spa.

valentino resort and spa
To be honest, this is the first time I've encountered this resort.  The name Valentino has a romantic connotation don't you agree?

valentino resort and spa
As soon as we got there, we registered and got our keys from their Information Office.

valentino resort and spa
To my surprise, the place is huge!  They have a mediterranean-themed restaurant.

valentino resort and spa
I was too preoccupied with the pools that I forgot to try the spa.

valentino resort and spa
a pavilion for functions and so much more.

valentino resort and spa
We stayed in their extension called Valentino Place which was designed to cater to big groups for team buildings and the like.   The landscape is well-maintained and it has a tranquil atmosphere.  There's a bench by the pond where I enjoyed chilling out.

valentino resort and spa
There are different kinds of villa which different in capacity.

valentino resort and spa
We stayed at the South Wing with 3 rooms.  It costs 11,000 php per night and has a maximum capacity of 20 persons.  The rates didn't include breakfast but they allowed food to be brought.  Some of my companions are from Batangas so they had food brought in for us.

valentino resort and spa
The intercoms aren't working.

valentino resort and spa
So there's bunker beds, television, cabinets and an air-conditioner.

valentino resort and spa
As you can see, everything looks clean despite the lack of interior design.

valentino resort and spa
They supplied fresh and clean towels, soap, shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrush.

valentino resort and spavalentino resort and spa
The rest rooms are all clean.

valentino resort and spa
Just beside the South Wing is an adult pool with an adjacent kiddie pool.  Being nearby, this is where we enjoyed our night swim.  The pool is surrounded with cabanas.  If you're not renting rooms, they charge for the cabanas as well as entrance fees for the pool.

valentino resort and spa
Because the vicinity is so big, they offered a free cart ride to the main Valentino Resort & Spa whenever you please.  You can just text them or approach any of their staff as they are all equipped with radio transmitters.  All the staffs are very courteous and happy to assist.

valentino resort and spa
They have their very own tunnel that goes under the main street so you don't need to go out and cross the street to go to the Valentino Resort & Spa from the Valentino Place and vice versa.

valentino resort and spa

valentino resort and spa
So if you go under the tunnel, you'll eventually turn up in the opposite side of that gate.

valentino resort and spa
They have a lot of amenities like a basketball court, tennis court, badminton court, volleyball court and fitness center.

valentino resort and spa
This is the biggest pool.  And, it has a jacuzzi beside it.   The pool is just right next to the building where the Italian and Modern Villas, Junior Suites and some rooms are.

valentino resort and spa
There's another adult pool with man-made waterfall and a kiddie pool also adjacent to it.

valentino resort and spa
From this hanging bridge, you can view all 3 pools and Mt. Maculot behind the pavillion.  Unfortunately, we didn't see it because it was drizzling during our stay.

Travel Tripsters Verdict
Valentino Resort & Spa is a superb resort.  It was a fun and memorable stay!  Their rates are very reasonable.  And, it's ideal for a couple stay, family outing and even corporate getaways.  Perhaps, this place just needs a bit of a marketing push because I really can't see why you shouldn't consider it on your next weekend getaway.  It's even accessible by public transport.

The Philippines has always been known as a rich and abundant tropical island.  One simply cannot fully bask into its delightful wonders without trying out live-cooked seafood which locals know as "Paluto"  which simply means to have it cooked.  With more than 29 years of experience and equipped with skillful chefs, Sabreen's Seafood Market is one of the top choices for your paluto experience.

How Can I Make My Next Business Trip Productive And Profitable?

$
0
0
If you're planning a big business trip and want it to be as productive and profitable as possible, now is the time to access strategies that will promote optimal success. You can use some or all of the techniques outlined below to get as much as you can out of your next business trip:

1. Finalize Everything At The Office.

One strategy you should definitely implement as you start planning your business trip is to finalize everything at the office. If you fail to take this step, you will likely find yourself worrying about whether things are still going well or if everything has fallen into a state of chaos. Moreover, things actually may fall apart if you don't finalize projects, delegate authority, and ensure that all of your equipment is functioning properly. If you have any equipment that is on the verge of death or disarray, make sure you replace it so you don't run the risk of disrupting the company's daily operations while you're gone. If your company makes use of aerospace metal alloys, you can obtain new products from businesses such as Hurlen King.

2. Locate The Ideal Hotel.

In addition to finalizing things at the office, make sure that you locate the ideal hotel. One thing you should consider is how close the hotel is to the place where networking functions and business meetings will be held. You should also think about the pricing. While you may be led to believe you have to break the bank to get an excellent hotel, you can oftentimes attain great deals by booking early. You can use www.expedia.com to start shopping for the ideal hotel right now.

3. Implement Good Health Practices.

One final strategy you can implement to optimize your next business trip is implementing good health practices. This strategy will help you maintain the elevated mood and high energy levels necessary to work effectively and network with power. With all of this in mind, make sure that you stay in a hotel that features a gym so you can work out regularly. Also be sure that you always have a wide range of healthy food options available to you.

Conclusion

If you're getting ready to go out of town for business and want the venture to be successful, now is the time to start implementing success strategies. You can use some or all of the planning tips outlined above to ensure that your business trip is as productive and positive as possible.

One of the famous tourist attractions in Baguio City is Tree Top Adventure Baguio

You can mix and match the activities and get more savings with their packages.

Upon seeing the map, I got so excited because the meters indicated that they occupied a big area so I can experience a bit of breeziness during the zipline experience.  Frankly, the place was bigger than it looks from the entrance.

tree top adventure baguio
But after the first plight of stairs, it gave me a slight hint that this adventure may require some plights more.

tree top adventure baguio
We chose our packages and got stamped by the entrance.

And so the trekking began...

Upon reaching the pavillion, there was a desk where we had to sign a waiver and avail our tickets.

You can also ask questions about packages here.

Upon being handed our tickets, we secured our harness.

Edsa Shangri-La Hotel Staycation

Being under stress for the past few weeks, sis and I decided to have a weekend staycation at Edsa Shangri-La Hotel.

edsa shangrila hotel
Amidst the busy city district of Ortigas, Edsa Shangri-La Hotel offers a refreshing escape away from the smog-filled city.

edsa shangrila hotel
We booked ourselves at the Garden Wing which was farther from the main lobby but nearer to Shangri-La Mall.

edsa shangrila hotel
The other wing is the Tower Wing were the convention halls and restaurants are.

edsa shangrila hotel

edsa shangrila hotel
This is the Garden Wing Lobby.

edsa shangrila hotel
The hotel was not so crowded so we didn't have to wait for our turn to use any of the two elevators.  Although if you have to wait, there are two kinds of newspapers available as early as 5 am in the morning.

edsa shangrila hotel garden wing
The fancy hallways exudes luxury.

edsa shangrila hotel garden wing
Finally, we reached our room with two twin beds.

edsa shangrila hotel garden wing
Everything was flawlessly clean except for the dusty TV remote.

edsa shangrila hotel garden wing
We even had complimentary banana breads waiting for us.

edsa shangrila hotel garden wing
And, the greatest advantage of staying at the Garden Wing Deluxe is the breathtaking view of the pool surrounded by lush greens of coconut trees and some cityscape too.

edsa shangrila hotel garden wing
If you're a workaholic like me, you'd appreciate a few glance to watch the wind blowing the coconut tree leaves.  The wifi is also fast and reliable.

Bathroom
edsa shangrila hotel garden wing
The bathroom is clean and spacious.  They have the usual compliments.  And, ladies will also appreciate the ponytailers.

edsa shangrila hotel garden wing
We have a shower, bath tub and a retractable clothing line.  Too bad we didn't bring any bath foam.  But, I still spent a relaxing time in the tub.  I loved that they have bathroom sound system which port sounds from the TV so I was able to listen to the news too.  Perhaps, the only thing I would suggest in their bathroom is to have a bidet.

edsa shangrila hotel garden wing
There's a bench closet for our bags...

edsa shangrila hotel garden wing
electric kettle for coffee or tea and a fridge.

edsa shangrila hotel garden wing
You can secure your belongings in the safe which we felt we didn't need.  And, you can even iron your clothes.

edsa shangrila hotel pool
I wanted to try the Gym.  But, decided to take a quick night stroll instead.

edsa shangrila hotel pool
I was tempted to chill by the pool bar...

edsa shangrila hotel pool
or get a night massage but decided to head back and stay snuck up in the room instead.

edsa shangrila hotel pool
I really appreciate how well-lit the place is.

edsa shangrila hotel pool
Come morning sis woke me up at 6 am to have a morning swim with her.  We claimed our towel and took a dive.

edsa shangrila hotel pool
The kids pool has a slide...

edsa shangrila hotel pool
And, aside from the playground they have this too.

edsa shangrila hotel pool
The adult pool is divided into two parts: 4 feet and 9 feet.

After our swim, we went availed our complimentary breakfast buffet at the Heat before checking out.

Overall, our Travel Tripters staycation at Edsa Shangri-La Hotel was an awesome experience.  The staffs are courteous and the buffet sealed the deal.

Bahong Rose Garden: Rose Capital of the Philippines (La Trinidad Benguet)

$

I've been to Baguio City numerous times and yet, there's are still places around the Benguet area where I still have not visited and one of those it the Bahong Rose Garden or Flower Farm.

bahong rose capital
Barangay Bahong is found north east of the very popular tourist destination La Trinidad Strawberry Farm.   It is around 4 kilometers away from La Trinidad Municipal Hall.  From the main road, we followed the sign leading to a narrower road.  The steep and muddy road that offered a beautiful valley-side scenery led us to the small town of Barangay Bahong which comprises of 5 sitios: Sadag, Central Bahong, Anoding, Ma-e and Tomay.

barangay bahong
But, turns out Bahong Rose Garden or Flower Farm is empty when we visited.  I can only think of 2 reasons why that would be so.  First, is because it is more challenging to reach by commute.  It is not even found on Google Maps. And second, we went there on a late afternoon in May.  While, the peak of the flower season is from November to March.  This is where 80% of the flowers from Manila are from.  So I can only imagine thousands of flowers blooming here during the flower season.

bahong flower farm
The caretaker was so nice to tour us around.  I think the land mass is so big but we were only shown a few areas where there are flowers.  At first, we couldn't spot any roses.

bahong rose farm
But as we went further, we look at what we saw.  Roses are usually red but here they come in various hues.

bahong rose garden
I rarely see yellow roses...

bahong rose garden
and white ones.

bahong rose garden
I found the pink ones lovely too.

bahong flower farm
But, it wasn't just the roses that made me and my companions smile.

bahong flower field
It was the first time in my life that I have seen flower fields.  It's so beautiful!  My friends and I couldn't help play around in the field.

la trinidad flower farm
Of course, we took a lot of photographs of ourselves being surrounded by the flowers.

bahong flower farm
Some of them have already bloomed.

bahong flower farm
While some of the buds are yet to bloom.

Overall, we Travel Tripsters enjoyed the fun brought by the natural beauty of nature at Bahong Rose Garden.

Tip: As of 2016, there is now an ordinance requiring tourists to register at the Barangay Bahong Tourism Office to pay for an environmental fee of 20 php/head (local) and 50 php/head (foreigner) and tour guide fee (for a maximum of 10 persons) of  200 php/ tour guide (local) and 300 php/tour guide (foreigner).

Seorabeol Grand Leisure Hotel: Value for Money Accomodation in Subic Zambales

Because work continuous even for the summer, many of us from Metro Manila try to squeeze in a quick summer escapade to nearby beach areas.  If you have Subic Zambales in mind thenSeorabeol Grand Leisure Hotelmight just be the accommodation you are looking for.

 Seorabeol Grand Leisure Hotel
Located at Waterfront Road in Subic Bay, going to the beach is as easy as crossing the street.  It is also near most restaurants and bars.

 Seorabeol Grand Leisure Hotel
Seorabeol Grand Leisure Hotel has a beautiful and well-air-conditioned lobby.  You can enjoy lounging in this area where the free WiFi is strongest.

 Seorabeol Grand Leisure Hotel
The hotel is bigger than it looks from the facade.  There are rooms near the lobby and extended to the pool area totaling 53 rooms in total.

 Seorabeol Grand Leisure Hotel
While, most rooms like ours will require passing by the outdoor pool.  Not a problem for us though as the WiFi reaches even this area and even our rooms.  The staffs are very courteous and more than willing to accommodate your requests.

Family Room (With Breakfast)
 Seorabeol Grand Leisure Hotel
Our room is very clean and spacious at 65 sqm with 3 Queen-Sized Bed.  The price is more than reasonable at below 1 thousand pesos (20 USD) per person even with an additional charge for extra bedding.  There's a cable TV and fridge.

 Seorabeol Grand Leisure Hotel
The room has more than adequate outlets for recharging.  There's a safety deposit box inside the cabinet.

 Seorabeol Grand Leisure Hotel
There's even an cozy loft area.  Although I personally prefer the lobby area which is more classy.
There's a window for a natural light source but no view.

 Seorabeol Grand Leisure Hotel
Toiletries and a bottled water is free for each guest.

 Seorabeol Grand Leisure Hotel
There's a a shower with heater and bath tub but no bubble bath soap so bring your own.  Toilet has no bidet.

 Seorabeol Grand Leisure Hotel
The hallways to our rooms offers a good pool view.  However, because of the intense heat, you cannot stand staying there during day time.

Pool Area
 Seorabeol Grand Leisure Hotel
The pool area is surrounded by the hotel building with some greeneries that works as a semi-shield against the direct rays of the sun.  The pool is very cool and clean.

 Seorabeol Grand Leisure Hotel
The pool is open from 8 am to 10 pm which life guard being visibly present.

 Seorabeol Grand Leisure Hotel
Swimming attire is encouraged but not to worry if you don't have one because they have some for sale.

Breakfast Buffet
 Seorabeol Grand Leisure Hotel
I'm told that if they have many guests, the complimentary breakfast comes in the form of breakfast buffet served at Nicco's Restaurant.

Niccos Restaurant
Breakfast is served as early as 6:30 am up to 10 am.

Niccos Restaurant
Since Seorabeol Grand Leisure Hotel is the sister company of Subic Pearl Hotel and Terrace Hotel, the breakfast selection for all three are basically the same.

Niccos Restaurant
So here's my breakfast plate.  Food is so-so they have tocino, hash brow, corned beef, scrambled eggs, fruits and refillable coffee.

Overall, we Travel Tripsters would recommend Seorabeol Grand Leisure Hotel for your value for money kind of accommodation when you want to stay in Subic Zambales.

las casas filipinas de acuzar
So if you want to have Instagrammable photos, here are my photography tips.
1. Wear proper clothes.
  • If you want to include yourself in the photo.  It is better if you could match your attire with the atmosphere.  If you're visiting on a summer day morning like we did where the sun is scorching hot, bring a hat or umbrella, shades and comfortable clothes and foot wear.
2. Take your time.
  •  Take your time to observe.  Look at the environment on a big picture aspect.  Best to take photos in landscape and panoramic mode.  If you can't take good pictures while on a tour, allocate some free time to take photos after.
3. Bring the proper gear.
  • If you're going during day time, you can be assured of good lighting as long as it's sunny.  If you're spending the night, best to bring a tripod or a good camera for night shots.
 4. Observe the source of light.
  • If you're visiting during the day time, the strong light source will also produce evident shadows so pay attention.
5. Have fun and be creative.
  •  Have fun and be creative with your shots.  There are tons of opportunity to be creative and create your unique shot that sets yours apart from the many visitors.
There you have it!  We Travel Tripsters hope you enjoy your visit at Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar too.

The Tale of Our Siam Reap Tuk Tuk Driver Brothers

    $
    0
    0
So we Travel Tripsters spontaneously booked our flights to Siam Reap

    siam reap international airport
Every guide online said we can easily find a Tuk Tuk everywhere.

    siam reap international airport
Even the place we booked at AirBNB suggested we take a Tuk Tuk and call him for directions.  He didn't want to give us the exact address saying, they don't have street numbers and fixed address there.

    siam reap international airport
While we were lining up, we had a conversation with fellow Filipinos who gave us a few tips about the temple tour.

    siam reap international airport
As soon as we got out of the airport, there were a lot of men offering Tuk Tuk and pointed us on where to buy the ticket.

    radi lem tuk tuk driver
We were assigned to Radi.  We explained that we didn't know where our stay is and gave him the number.  Apparently, Tuk Tuk/Remork drivers in Siam Reap are not hesitant in making calls.  He immediately called and got instructions to our place.  But before we left the airport, Radi asked us our plans and he insisted that we change our itinerary.  We decided to acquire his services for 3 days.

    radi lem tuk tuk driver

Radi is not only a Tuk Tuk Driver, he also has a car which we hired for 55 USD (haggled from 60 USD).  We had Radi for 1 day where he took us early to Angkor Wat for the sunrise.  And then, he took us to the waterfalls and back.

Our ride was quite enjoyable and comfortable.  Radi speaks good English.  He shared that he is the 5th offspring from a big family of 7 children.   Being in a big family, he was forced to work his way through college.  He learned English from the Buddhist Temple.  And, now he hires a tutor to learn Chinese.  We can't help but admire at how ambitious he is.  He has been a tour guide for almost 10 years.

In Siam Reap, he says there is no agriculture or other means of income except for tourism.  The influx of tourism there right now is getting bigger and bigger and most of them are Chinese and Europeans.  But, there are also many Tuk Tuk Drivers.  In fact, they only have their turn at the airport every 3 days so they have to find clients for the rest of the days otherwise, they spend their days home studying or doing nothing.  Thus, Tuk Tuk Drivers there extend as much service as they can such as offering free bottled waters, offering to pick you up on call, dropping you off to the place you stay or where you want to eat.  Our place was around a 4 USD Tuk Tuk ride from the main city district so we really appreciated them picking us up from our place to stay and dropping us off to our choice of diner at night.

During our first day, Radi introduced us to his younger brother Sam.  Sam was our tuktuk driver for our small circuit tour (25 USD including our first and failed attempt for the Angkor Wat sunrise).   Sam just began as Radi's trainee last year.  We loved Sam very much.  He is very sincere in giving the best service.

During our first day, Sam asked us what our plans are and we told him we wanted to watch the Apsara Dance so he volunteered to bring us to Angkor Mondial to buy our tickets.  Since the show for that day is fully booked, we decided to go to Pub Street and asked Sam to draw our address.  He was worried that we might get lost and gave his number instead.

We then learned that after Sam's whole day of being a tuktuk driver, he is also the lead dancer at Angkor Mondial.  The next day when we watched his show, he greeted us and was so glad we enjoyed his show.

On our second day, we had Sam for our big circuit tour (25 USD).  We passed by many sellers on the street selling palm fruit.  I didn't what it was at the time so I asked Sam.  He told us that it was palm fruit.  He then dropped us off to one of the temples.  When we got back, he surprised us with a bag of cold palm fruit from his cooler.  How sweet!

That day we tried catching the sunset at Phnom Bakheng temple and got down a bit late.  We knew Sam was late for his dance show.  But instead being worried for being late, he was sincerely more concern on where we would eat and what we would do the following day.  FellowTravel Tripster Eric was really touched by Sam's kindness.  We just had to take a photo with him and give him a handsome tip. =)  Perhaps, we didn't get the best rates for our Tuk Tuk ride but it was a priceless fun and heart-warming ride for us.

There's so many things to do in Las Casas De Azucar.  If you ask me, I think a day is not enough. So its best to just pick the activities you want to do with consideration to your time and budget. So here's my top 12 things to do for you.

    1. Take a Heritage Tour
    • Unless you rent a ride, the Heritage Tour is generally a walking tour.
      Pros   Cons
      • Opportunity to take good photographs (see posts on tips here)
      • Time-worthy with an approximate duration of 1 hour and half
      • Affordable packages in contrast to renting a Private Casa
      • Be prepared to sweat if your tour is around sun time

          Pros   Cons
          • The slow ride without covers means total exposure under the sun.  (Try to minimize that as much as you can!)

            3. Take a Ride
            • Free Ride
              • You can choose to ride the Tramvia or  Jeepney for free.  Pick up is usually in front of Casa Unisan and drops off in Casa Binan (Italian Restaurant) and Estero de Binondo (Beach front).  These are available from 6 am to 10 pm.

            3. Take a Swim
The beach front is just infront of Estero de Binondo.

There are no gates so you can just enter at any point.  There is a lifeguard on duty from 6 am to 6 pm so that's also the allowed period.  They have a line to the boundary.  I've heard smoking is allowed there but glass containers are prohibited.

            • Just beside Casa Cagayan, they have this beautiful Batis inspired pool.  After the beach closes at 6pm, you can spend your time at the pool until 9 pm.

This year is a special year for Bataan.  Not only is it special because it it the 75th Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor), it is also the first time ever that it will have the Grandest Pyrotechnics.

How fortunate of Bataan to have Japanese Kenji Mori sponsor a 25-minute long with75,000-shot of Dragon Fireworks into the night sky.

bataan 75th araw ng kagitingan grandest pyrotechnics
I was steaed on the VIP section by the stage with a huge LED screen that practically blocked most of the fireworks view.

bataan 75th araw ng kagitingan grandest pyrotechnics
For those lucky enough to watch the fireworks display entirely, there was a combination of fountains on the ground and more fireworks flew in the sky.

                      It was amazing!

This is actually my first time to watch a pyrotechnics.

bataan 75th araw ng kagitingan grandest pyrotechnics
I was so amazed!!! I can't believe that I could watch something as extravagant for free.

bataan 75th araw ng kagitingan grandest pyrotechnics
I took the chance to try for the Firework Photography.

Though I have to admit that for such a long firework display, you can't really capture everything by photographs alone.

bataan 75th araw ng kagitingan grandest pyrotechnics
Most of the spectators caught the show on video.

But some who were eager to join the photography contest like me, opted to take fun shots.

I didn't win like my companions.  But, it was still tons of fun.

It was so beautiful that you won't realize that you've been staring up for almost 25-minutes already.

Congratulations Bataan for a well-executed event.

Now since you only have an hour, you have to strategic if you want to conquer all the obstacles.  And, I'm sharing with you the Top 10 Tips on How to Conquer Club Balai Isabel Aqua Park based on our experience.

                      aqua park club balai isabel
                      1. Come on a Week Day
It's best to come on a weekday to avoid more guests.  Even if you're fit and sleek, the slower ones can cause bottlenecks on some obstacles.  I'm one of the slow ones so 1 hour was not enough to conquer even just half of the playground.

                      2. Plan Your Route
To maximize your time, plan your route ahead, you can go, left or right.  But, you'll eventually have to come back on some routes once you try the big slide.  So think ahead.

                      3. Wear Grip Socks or Aqua Shoes
We've seen the staffs purposely spraying water on the inflatables (perhaps to keep it cool).  The wet surface on the inflatables makes them quite slippery.  So be as smart as the lifeguards, wear grip socks and aqua shoes and I promise you, it will make a HUGE difference!

                      4. Know When to Walk Sideways
When it comes to curved surfaces, walk sideways.  If you feel tired and can't balance well, you can sit on your butt and try to move from there.

                      aqua park club balai isabel
                      5. Bend Your Knees
Bend your knees for better balance.

                      aqua park club balai isabel
                      6. Avoid the Sun
As much as possible, avoid the scorching heat of the sun so you won't tired out faster.  It's best to go there early as they open by 8 am.  During weekdays, they also take a break at around lunch time for maintenance and so the staffs can take a bit of rest from the heat.

                      aqua park club balai isabel
                      7. Secure Your Camera
The lake is up to 60 feet deep.  If you don't want to lose your camera and gadgets, better secure it or make sure it floats.  Worrying about losing them will not make your experience fun.

                      aqua park club balai isabel
                      8. Use Your Survival Instinct
Just look at the water, the jungle of molds and sea ferns will definitely motivate you not to fall.

                      9. Crawl if you need to
This may look ridiculous but you may need to crawl if you need to.

                      10. Call the Lifeguards
You really need the lifeguards to lift you up once you fall on the water.  Don't bother wasting your time and energy to try to go up on your own.  It's best to save those for the obstacles.

                      Extra Tip
For your summer getaways, protect yourself from the sun's harmful rays with 3M™ Automative Tints.  Our visit to Club Balai Isabel Aqua Park as part of #BeatTheHeat: Automotive Tints Roadtrip Series by 3M made us realize how essential to a comfortable and safe rise tint were.  There are 3M™ Automotive Tints variants you can choose from: Crystalline (if you care about car aesthetics), Color Stable (if you value privacy), Black Chrome (if you want to be kept cool by its heat rejection feature), Scotchshield Security (if you need extra window protection and security).

Whether it's for the budget or homey hospitality, I am always in search for new places to stay that isn't too hyped.  A few weeks ago, I discovered Bus Stop Dive Resort in Anilao/Bauan Batangas.

                      bus stop dive resort
As implied by the name, it is among the many dive resosts in Batangas.  So why here?  Let me give you 10 reasons why it is one of the best if not the best choice in Batangas.

10 Reasons Why Its the Best Choice for Diving in Batangas

                      10. Short Drive and Short Boat Ride
                      bus stop dive resort
Driving to the Bus Stop Dive Resort Boat Station is only around an hour and a half drive from Metro Manila.  There is adequate parking slots to leave your car there well-guarded during your entire stay.

There boat ride is only 10 to 15 minutes long.  The waves are usually calm so you can still ride a boat even after sunset.

                      9. Affordable and Clean Accommodation
                      bus stop dive resort
The accommodation is clean and very affordable.  An overnight stay stats at 500 php per head.

                      bus stop dive resort
There are many types of rooms to choose from.  You have a terrace with sea view.  And, the bathroom is equipped with shower.

                      8. Freshly Cooked Homey Food
                      bus stop dive resort
As you can see they have a clean kitchen that's open for everyone to walk into and inspect anytime.

                      sotanghon na mackarel
The food is freshly cooked with fresh local ingredients bought from the town market.

Sotanghon na Mackarel, Adobong Manok, Lumpiang Ubod and Rice
Most of us are too busy to enjoy home-cooked meals.  And, some of the foreign guests are unfamiliar with our favorite home-cooked dishes.

                      filipino food
Thus, for breakfast, lunch or dinner... Bus Stop serves dishes that will surely warm up your hearts and stomach with homey cooked dishes.

                      filipino food
I really enjoyed these simple dishes.  It is indeed one of the plus factors of my relaxing stay at Bus Stop.

                      7. Calming View and Music of the Sea
                      bus stop dive resort
There is nothing more refreshing and relaxing than looking at the clear blue sea and listening to the sounds of the waves.

I find it relieving to pace my breath with the sound of the waves.

                      6. Beautiful Seascapes
                      bus stop dive resort
The sea isn't just a plain open sea.

                      bus stop dive resort
There are many rocks and floras that create a beautiful seascape perfect for photography.

                      bus stop dive resort
Just look at how emotional my shots are.

                      bus stop dive resort
You can get different outputs depending on the time and mood of the day.

                      5. Great Nap Place
When was the last time you have a nap outside the four corners of your room?  I bet that is nothing compared to this right?

                      bus stop dive resort
Feel the fresh sea breeze brush across you cheeks and the rest of your skin as you take your nap.

                      4. Get to Watch a Scenic Sunset
                      bus stop dive resort
One of the best reasons to stay for the night is to be able to sit by the shore, maybe grab some beer and just appreciate the orange hues spreading across the greyish skies.

This is one of my favorite shots.

                      3. Instagram Worthy Photos
                      bauan dive resort
You can find a lot of Instagram worthy photos in this place.  The possibilities is limitless depending on your creativity.

                      2. Pet-Friendly
                      dog in batangas beach
If you're looking for pet-friendly locations, this is one of them.

                      1. Direct Diving Spot
                      bus stop dive resort
They have a direct diving spot just ashore.  Just in front of the place is already a marine sanctuary formerly known as Bus Stop.  Unlike in Anilao where you will spend on renting a boat out on top of their high and commercialized accommodation rates, here you can just rent some gears and hire a dive master and you're all set to go.  Even if you're not a diver, you can just do snorkeling ad on a fair da ysee lots of fishes in the calm and crystal clear water.

Check out my first dive and trek experience at Bus Stop Dive Resort on my next post.

                      1. Montey's Buko Pie
                      monteys buko piemonteys buko pie

From the town of Morong Bataan is Montey's Buko Pie.  A whole pie costs only 150 php.   We found this cheaper than the more commercialize Buko Pie's from the south - Tagaytay and Laguna.

                      monteys buko pie
What we love about Montey's Buko Pie is that:
                      • it is not too sweet therefore, bringing out the natural young coconut flavor
                      • the custard has a soft creamy and gelatinous texture
                      • the crisp of the crust is addictive to munch on
                      • there is a generous amount of young coconut flesh
                      2. Busilak's Cashew Prunes
                      busilaks cashew prunes
Busilak makes use of the all cashew by-products by making the cashew apple into Cashew Prunes.  The Cashew Prunes have a nice chewy texture and not overly sweetened.  This is a great alternative to candies.  If we recall correctly, it is priced at 100 php per pack.

                      busilak cashew prune bignay wine
They also have wines which we didn't get to try...

                      3. Dennis Ube De Leche Halaya
                      dennis ube de leche halaya
What makes Dennis Ube De Leche Halaya different from other Ube Halaya in the market is its silky smooth creaminess.  Because they don't use preservatives, this spoils very quickly.  Each spoonful is a massage to the tongue with an explosion of purple yam flavor making it difficult to stop yourself from consuming this.

                      dennis bagoong
Dennis sells other gourmet bottle food products.  The Bagoong or shrimp paste is quite good too.

                      4. Beakris Tamarind Balls
                      beakris tamarind balls
Not too sweet, not too sour with a mild chewiness that doesn't need extra effort to bite into, Beakris Tamarind Balls is another popular sweet treat in the area.  A box costs around 90 php.  Beakris from Orani Bataan also has other famous products such as their chocolate coated polvoron.

                      5. Cashew Nuts
                      cashew nuts
We have tried several brands of Cashew Nuts and all of them have nearly the same quality and pricing.

                      vangies cashew nuts
Thus, choosing the brand is only based on your own preference.  Good brands we tried are:
A pack costs around 200 php.
Bagakeño also has Cashew Cookies which we found to be a bit sweet.  And, it has a bit of a spongy texture like that of Batangas' Broas.

                       6. Ina Gloria Dayap Cookies
                      ina gloria dayap cookies
AlthoughIna Gloria also has Cashew Cookies, it is Ina Gloria's Dayap Cookies with a mellow citrusy flavor that impressed our taste buds.  The texture of the cookies is crunchy with a powdery residue similar to Bataan's Arrow Root Cookies or Araro.  A small pack costs around 35 php.

                      7. Amanda's Smoked Bangus and Smoked Gigi
                      amandas smoked bangus
We bought Smoked Bangus and Smoked Gigi orTinapa from Amanda's as well as two vendors in Balanga's Public Market for comparison.  The price difference is not much but Amanda's of Balanga Bataan is high price point is worth every peso with its superior quality.  Although we want to support the small-scale marine industry, we can't help but be disappointed with the food quality.  The first one we bought from Balanga Public Market was too salty.  And, the other one was already spoilt within 3 days despite being refrigerated like the other two.

                      8. Balanga Public Market Ube Suman
No need to dip your suman into chocolate or spread it with Ube Jam, as this Ube Suman is already a combination of suman and ube halaya.  For only 10 php, you get two pieces.  Manang makes them fresh daily and boasts that she has send all her kids and grandchildren through her famous suman and other kakanin.

                      9. Sam Roque's Mussel Chips
An alternative to the usual chicharon or fried pork rind is Sam's Roque's Mussel Chips. You can taste the rich sea flavors in every crispy bite.

                      10.  Araro Cookies or Arrow Root Cookies
Bataan's Araro Cookies or Arrow Root Cookies is more on the crunchy and less powdery side as compared to the Uraro of Pampanga.  Each brand has its own distinguishable feature.  We also can't decide which is the best.  It's a tie between:
                      • Joyce Araro Cookies
                      • Herrera's  Special Araro Cookies with Cashew Nuts
                      Other Food Products We Tried
We also bought the Tabang Tuyo at 200 php per kilo from the Balanga Market.  But, it turned out to be very salty which was quite contrary to their promise of unsaltiness.

                      nilupak

An old man in the market also loves and swear by the Nilupak in the Balanga Market.  Somehow this mashed cassava delicacy with margarine on top failed to make a lasting impression upon us.

Now that you have decided to go to Maui congratulate yourself for taking a great decision and planning a Hawaii vacation. Maui is known for its white sandy beaches, sporting activities, and festive and colorful luaus. Make your booking well ahead of time for this beautiful Hawaiian Island. Pick from one of those wonderful homes for rent in Maui to stay at and make your stay more worthwhile. If you are wondering where to go or how to start your travel plans for Maui, read on to learn more.

                      When to go?
As the holidaymaker, you need to decide when you plan to holiday in Maui and what time of year, month work best for you or your family. You need to look at your work schedule. I know this is the very dreadful and tiring part but once this part is settled, the rest will just follow through.  So pick a date that fits your need for time, budget and weather.  If you want to avoid the rush and take advantage of cheaper tickets, keep your plans open for March-May and September-November in Maui when it is the off-season. Winters are attractive to those who don’t mind the cold but summers are incredible here.  Perhaps, the youth can stand the cold but I definitely recommend summers for those who prefer a warm relaxing vacation.

                      What to bring?
If you pack light, vacationing in Maui will be just perfect. There is no need to carry heavy sweaters and pants as the climate on the island is warm. As there is loads of sightseeing to do, bring light cotton shirts, shorts, and comfortable clothing.  Keep your face shielded from the sun with a hat and a pair of sunglasses.  If you enjoy taking photos then bring your more colorful dresses and hip shades.  As there are beaches and waterfalls to be explored, do not forget to pack a couple of swimsuits. Cycling or biking tours will need comfy clothing.  Get ready get tanned and have some fun!

                      Where to stay?
Maui boasts of a varied range of unique towns with micro-climates.  Some of the best areas to stay on the island include South Maui, where you can be sure to have a sunny weather.  West Maui is popular because of loads of restaurants on the water and a great shopping experience. East Maui lures holidaymakers because of lush rainforests and empty beaches. Upcountry Maui is a preferred because of the great views. You can pick from lodges, resorts, and homes for rent in Maui and enjoy the most comfortable stay that is well within your budget.

                      Getting around the island
Maui is easy to get around. However, if this is your first time, it is recommended that you get a guided tour. Those who are well familiar with the island, it makes sense to get a rented car. There are All Terrain Vehicles and even motorcycles available for hire. The first-timers can take advantage of the public transportation which is very affordable.

                      What to explore?
Many tourists are seen relaxing and enjoying the beach in the form of their rented home or their hotel. Others are out all the time, exploring the areas and the islands. If you are looking forward to a relaxing holiday, you can enjoy restaurants, massage, shows, golfing and even beach portraits. If you are an explorer, you can enjoy hiking, snorkeling, whale watching, sailing, and lots more. Then there are scuba diving, zip lines, helicopter tours, hiking, sports fishing, kayaking and parasailing for the hardcore adventurers itching for excitement and adrenalin rush.

De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde Manila is one of the top institutions in the country for its The School of Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management.  What many do not know however, is that it also has its own four-star hotel:  Hotel Benilde Maison De La Salle.
hotel benilde maison de la salle
Hotel Benilde Maison De La Salle is located in Arellano Avenue, Corner Estrada St, Malate, Manila, Metro Manila.

hotel benilde maison de la salle
The hotel is strategically located that it is only a few minutes away from:
                      • Malate - tourist center of Manila
                      • Makati - Philippine's central business district
                      • Airport - NAIA terminal 1, 2 and 3
                      • Convention Centers: World Trade Center, PICC, SMX
                      • Malls: Harisson Plaza, Mall of Asia, Robinsons Place Manila, SMManila, Greenbelt, Glorietta, Century Mall, SM Jazz Mall and A Venue Mall
hotel benilde maison de la salle
Although it is a big building with many floors, the hotel area only occupies the 1st, 11th, 12th and roof deck.  The rest is dedicated for labs.

All rooms are equipped with an advance proximity card door lock system, electronic doorbell, DO not disturb (DND) and make-up room indicator.   For added security, the proximity card is also required for elevator use.

                      Deluxe Queen
                      deluxe queen
As you can see the room is very nice.  The queen size bed comes with a soft duvet bed linen, two super soft pillows and two extra pillows.  There is an extra loft which is even softer than the bed.  The carpeted floors are clean.  There are multiple lamps with appropriate switches.  There is even a minimal night light which I really appreciate.

                      deluxe queen
There's a work desk with lamp, telephone, tea and coffee with electric kettle.  For laptop use and gadget charging, their electric socket is compatible for 110v and 220v so no need for adapters.

                      deluxe queen
I find the TV as an important aspect of a hotel stay.  I like turning it on just for a more comfortable vibe especially when I'm alone so it doesn't feel too quiet.   The 40-inch LED TV gives a superb viewing experience.

                      refrigeratorsafety box
There's a fridge, more than adequate drawers, a huge closet with an electronic safe and iron with ironing board and hangers.

                      bathroom
The bathroom is also spacious.  I found the sliding door with mirror to be innovative and functional.

                      bathroom
The towel rack has a complete set of hand, face and body towels for two.

                      toiletries
There is also a complete set of toiletries.

                      Roof Deck
                      manila city view
One of the best hotel facility you can avail is the swimming pool at the roof deck.  It has a scenic view of the sun set and Makati City.

                      vatel restaurant
Also located at the roof deck is Vatel Restaurant - a French restaurant run by students.  This is required by Institut Vatel since it has a tie up with De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde School of Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management.

                      Complimentary Breakfast
                      cafe romancon
At Cafe Romancon located at the ground floor of Hotel Benilde Maison De La Salle is where you can claim your welcome drinks and the sumptuous complimentary breakfast buffet.  It also provides a free daily news paper so I did my morning routine of reading the newspaper after breakfast.

                      cafe romancon
Although choices are limited, they are filling and satisfying.  There's the usual Filipino breakfast fare like hotdog, other items including a soup dish, fresh fruits, pastries and cheese.

                      cafe romancon
Cereal lovers especially kids will be delighted with their cereal selection.

                      presidential suite
I was also able to check out the other rooms available.  Out of the hotel's 49 rooms, there is only one Presidential Suite.

                      presidential suite
Aside from the spacious bed room and walk-in closet with dresser, it has a huge bath tub.

                      One Bedroom Suite
                      one bedroom suite
The special feature of this room is the glass-walled bathroom.  Don't worry, there are blinds if you prefer privacy.

                      Superior Twin
                      superior twin
Apart from the Presidential Suite and Dormitory area, the room sizes are standardized at 30 sqm.  Only the beds varied.

                      PWD Standards Compliant
                      handicap standards compliant
There are also two rooms allocated for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

                      Dorm Room
                      dorm room
One thing I found unique is the dormitory.  For as low as 1,500, dorm guests can enjoy in this bed with work space and also avail of the complimentary breakfast.  This is the female dormitory.  I found the male dormitory to be a bit spacious.  To avail, it requires a minimum of 8.

                      bathroom
For this 64 sqm. room specially made for groups there's a twin toilet and shower area.
